Accommodations

Five bedroom, three bath vacation home 75' from Penobscot Bay and surrounded by woods. Sleeps 10. Built in 2004 it has three levels: first floor offers living/dining and kitchen, master bedroom (queen) and full bath; second floor has two bedrooms (queen and two twin) and full bath; lower level has two bedrooms (queen, two twin), a TV/reading room and full bath with shower, laundry. Screened porch and glass-railed deck off living/dining area on first floor.

Access to the beach is possible at one point and requires a 2' step down onto rocks, then a walk down sloping rocks with a rope to hold onto. Not easily managed by the elderly or young children. No place to launch kayaks.

Pets are not accepted.

Renters clean prior to leaving.

Weeks rental at minimum.

Activities

Hang out at the cottage, cook meals, play games, read near the wood fire, stream your favorites ... whatever. Or stroll the sidewalks of Stonington a working fishing village with an Opera House for film/stage productions, shops, boat tours with a local guide, and a ferry to Isle Au Haut (part of Acadia National Park). Art galleries, restaurants and grocery shopping on the island as well as Kayak rentals and tours.

Further afield from your base on Deer Isle are habitat preserves, many museums, art galleries and restaurants in the towns of Blue Hill, Ellsworth and others. North about 2 hours is Mt. Desert Island home to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Swim in Penobscot Bay by the cottage if you're hearty or head to the Lilly Pond for fresh water swimming (parking lot off Quaco Rd).
